what does purinas healthy edge horse feed do?
my mom bought my horse some purina strategy healthy edge but before i feed it to him i need to know what it does. we are looking to put weight on him and we are going to fair soon so i need to know fast thank you, kendra
I have used strategy with more than half my horses for the past 8 years. It puts healthy weight on them, not flabby fat. It helps horses gain or keep weight without making them ‘hot’ If I need to keep or put weight on a horse that is a really hard keeper or been in a compromised situation for some time, I add Purina’s Equine Senior also. I have never had a horse dislike it. It is also touted as a feed that can be changed to over a very short period of time without upset. I have changed horses to it over 3 days without any ill effects.
These are well balanced diets that give a lovely haircoat, healthy hooves (the Strategy Healthy Edge has Biotin in it for healthy hair and hooves) and energy to get the job done, but not make them crazy. The Healthy Edge has the Biotin in it, and it is lower in Carbs/Sugars like the Wellsolve variety of the Purina Lines. As far as I can see, it combines the good qualities of Strategy and Wellsolve into one bag, plus the supplement that many of us also add.
Overall, this is a reasonably priced pellet, very palatable, and safe.
