Does anyone know what the standards for average daily gain (ADG) for Brahman and Gelbvieh breeds of cattle?
ADG. Measurement of weight change weight per day in animals on the test diet. (Http: / / www.extension.org) Thanks in advance guys!
I do not know what is the standard for both races. There are so many variables, such as food fed, they are on pasture, weather, etc., which a real standard would be difficult to establish. I have seen feeding trials where Gelbvieh calves averaged £ 3.10 / day daily gain. Brahman average £ 2.95 / day average in all races was 3.01 lb / day. Based on these data, I would conclude that the Gelbvieh breed was slightly higher average and slightly below the Brahman average daily weight gain. It should be noted that the cross calves had greater ADG both races.
