Best Clippers for Horse?
What do you think is the best clippers ( along with price)? I ride and show Saddlebreds at a stables, but I still have a horse or two at home. I will want to keep my shaggy pony/ horse ( he’s 14 hands) clipped for trail riding and light showing at the county fair ( contesting, western pleasure). I need something that is quiet for my little rescue pony, and can cut through thick hair to keep my summer rides cooler. Any suggestions on specific models, manufacterurs, and places to buy them? Asking more on personal preference. experience.
The big heavy duty sunbeam (I think sunbeam was bought out by Oster, but you can occasionally find used sunbeams) clippers work great for heavy body clipping. For bridle paths, legs, face….I really like the wahl KM2. I used to use the Oster Golden A5, and it’s OK, but I’ve had my KM2 for about 5 years now, and they take a lickin’ and keep on tickin’. The 16′ cord is nice too, gives you plenty of mobility. Not terribly noisy either….not excessively anyway. It’s going to be hard to find a clipper that will hold up to the tough jobs that doesn’t have at least some noise….As for places to buy, you can check jeffers, country supply….those are a couple of good ones. If I remember, I got my KM2s from Bedford Tack, in Bell Buckle, TN. Not a bad price on them. As for the heavy ones, I’d check ebay….but you can get new ones as well, but I think they’re Oster brand now, instead of Sunbeam.
