Is artificial insemination in animals cruel?
I went on a visit to a dairy farm with college and found out they use a process called artificial insemination, to be honest I think this sounds really sick and weird! It’s really creeped me out. Is that not a form of sexual abuse or even kind of like rape? It sounds awful. Isn’t it cruel?
I think it’s disturbing. Yeah. Factory farms needs all these animals to constantly reproduce and so they have to do it artificially because otherwise they wouldn’t have as much “product” later. As soon as an animal has given birth they basically wait a little bit (I think 6 weeks) and make them pregnant again. It puts a lot of stress on the body. Just imagine you being pregnant for 9 months, having a baby, waiting 6 weeks, and then getting pregnant again. But instead of it just being twice, it’s over and over until the animal isn’t “good” anymore and is then sent to slaughter. Turkeys literally can’t reproduce on their own anymore – they HAVE to be artificially inseminated. Sounds pretty awful to me.
