Arabian Saddle on Fox Trotter?
Can I use an arabian saddle on my Missouri Foxtrotter? I would assume the answer is no but I want to make sure. What is the difference between an arabian saddle and a regular western saddle?
You may be able to use it, it’s all in the fit. The saddle needs to fit well on the horse to prevent pinching but also to give you a secure seat. If the bars are not wide enough, the saddle will “topple” on top the horse and keep you too high and out of balance. It’s not a matter of money, the most expensive saddle is useless if it doesn’t fit the horse. Many time “arabian” describes the style, usually a rounded skirt. You need the proper size “bars” for your horse. Try your arabian saddle, if it feels uncomfortable, you probably need to look into a different saddle. Some shops takes trades. Good luck.
