Horse Lovers … Can You Tell Me What This Means?
Have you ever heard the expression, “Lots of Chrome” used to describe a horse?
I saw an ad for a horse (Half-Arab yearling, chestnut filly) for sale, and she was described as “flashy, with LOTS OF CHROME” … and I have no idea what that means!
Even my daughter and her horsey-friends don’t know … do you?
Thanks!
You guys are AMAZING! I thought I’d get … maybe … 2 answers to such a dumb question (!) but thank you ALL so much for explaining it to me!
I thought “chrome” might refer to white markings or generally “flashiness” but I had no idea that “chrome” was a widely-used term meaning white markings.
I guess you can tell I’m not “horsey” at all (although my daughter and her friends are), but was just curious about the meaning of the term.
Had to laugh at the answerer who said it was an attention-getting phrase … yeah, I guess “flashy, lotsa CHROME” sounds sexier than “2 white socks and a blaze”!
chrome means white markings such as a blaze, white stockings, etc.
