Just to add to Kevin’s answer, ideally, you do not want any calf that has been weaned as early as possible. They normally do not grow or perform as well as calves weaned a little later. Also, you are not necessarily going to get a better deal by purchasing cattle very young. Sometimes, you can save a bit of money and hard work by letting someone else pour groceries into them for a couple more months.
